THE FIRST TIME I went
here two years ago, I tried their massage amidst the wonderful
tropical and peaceful setting of their spa villa. My only thought
was, I wish they had overnight facilities too because the
surroundings were very conducive to stay longer. Now of course, they
have guest villas, which are very roomy, complete with an
oversized tub, an outdoor shower, and a private garden-just the
kind that you wouldn't mind being cooped up the whole day. But those
are the aesthetics. Everyone, by this I mean, the staff, seems to be
"floating" in their movements-all so graceful, quiet, pleasant,
and looking quite contented and pleased with themselves. Later on, I
found out that all of them are required to take up yoga sessions
regularly plus the fact that they are well paid and treated as a
family, maybe the cause of their nice disposition. And now the
owners: Karen Reina and Dieter Schrottmann, created Mandala to share
what they have discovered about living a more wholesome and
healthier lifestyle |
with their guests. They are
personally involved in everything from the tiniest details in
the decor to designing new treatments. You sense that with this yin
and yang couple, it is more of a passion than simply profit. At its
humblest goal, Karen and Dieter, want to plant a "seed" to those who
step in their own version of Shangri-La, the fabled land of peace,
in Boracay. Take that small step and try to visit Mandala. You have
nothing to lose and quite possibly, a lot to gain.
What can your guests look
forward to? The spa began with a love affair with the spirit of
Boracay. Being both long time residents of the island, owners Dieter
Schrottmann and Karen Reina felt that it was important to preserve
the serenity and peace that the island had become known for. So
knowing that the best things in life are enjoyed "away from it all",
Mandala Spa was born. Whether it be a simple spa treatment, a
holiday |
