Cebu, often called the "Queen City of the South", is located at the center part of the Philippine archipelago. Enveloped by the Visayan Sea on the north, Camotes Sea on the east, Tanon Strait on the west and Bohol Strait on the southeast. Surrounded by the 166 smaller islands and Mactan, Bantayan and Camotes are the largest.

The island previously known as Sugbu, the townspeople have already established a way of living even before the colonization of the Spaniards. They are involved in trade industry between the Chinese and some countries in Southeast Asia. When the Spanish came in 1521, the first mass was held in Cebu. Rajah Humabon, his wife and 800 natives were made Christians.

The province is also gifted with beautiful islands and beaches. The Badial Island, popular for their coral reefs, white sand beaches and also an excellent diving spots. The Malaspacua Island ideal for swimming and snorkling is being compared to Boracay because of its white sand beaches and crystal clear water. The largest bird sanctuary in the Philippines can be found in the island of Olango and the home of migratory birds travelling between North Asia and Australia.
